How much does golf simulator hire cost? Prices and what is included

Anyone looking to hire a golf simulator for an event comes across very different prices online. Sometimes per day, sometimes per hour, sometimes "on request". And it is often unclear what is and is not included.
In this article we set out our prices openly and honestly, and explain what to look out for when comparing providers.

All prices exclude VAT and travel costs. Travel costs are €0.25 per kilometre.
What is included?
Both packages come with the same equipment:
- Garmin Approach R50 launch monitor, which measures ball speed, launch angle, spin, direction and distance. More in our article on the Garmin R50.
- Impact screen with 4K projector, on which you see the ball fly instantly.
- Hitting net and hitting mat.
- Golf clubs and balls, in several lengths and also for left-handed players.
- Tent if the simulator is set up outdoors.
- Delivery, set-up, take-down and collection. You do not have to carry anything.
With fully hosted you also get a host who runs the entire golf programme: instructions for beginners, managing the order, running the challenges (longest drive, nearest to the pin and matchplay), keeping the leaderboard and handing out the prizes. If anyone hits a hole-in-one, they win a green fee of their choice at a golf course in the Netherlands.
Why no self-collection option?
Some rental companies offer a cheaper option where you collect the simulator yourself. We deliberately do not. A launch monitor, projector and impact screen are expensive and sensitive equipment. A badly aligned camera or a screen that is not hung properly, and the measurements are no longer accurate.
By always delivering and installing ourselves, we know for sure that everything is set up correctly and works. It also saves you arranging a van, carrying equipment and working out how it all fits together.

Say you are organising a corporate event 40 kilometres from Wijk bij Duurstede and choose the fully hosted package.

What to look out for when comparing
Prices from different providers are hard to compare. Ask these questions:
- Is set-up and take-down included? Or do you pay for it separately, or have to collect it yourself?
- Which launch monitor do they use? A cheap sensor is less accurate. You notice that straight away in a longest drive or nearest to the pin.
- Is there a screen and projector, or just a net? Without a screen you cannot see the ball fly, and that is exactly what makes it fun.
- What if it rains? Do they bring a tent for outdoor set-ups?
- Is hosting available? With larger groups a host makes the difference between chaos and a smooth programme.
- What are the travel costs? Ask how they are calculated.
- Do prices include VAT? Business providers often quote prices excluding VAT.
Which package suits whom?
Set-up & take-down suits:
- drinks or a party where the simulator is a free activity;
- a trade show stand with your own staff welcoming visitors;
- a group in which someone takes on the organising.
Fully hosted suits:
- corporate events and team days with a fixed programme;
- groups with many beginners;
- international groups who want the programme in English;
- events where you as the organiser want to join in rather than run things.
